Cyberspace…

A metaphor for describing the non-physical terrain created by computer systems. For example, online systems create a cyberspace within which people can communicate with one another (email, social media etc.), do research, or simply window shop!

Like physical space, cyberspace contains objects (files, messages, graphics, etc.) and different forms of transportation and delivery.

Unlike real space, though, exploring cyberspace does not require any physical movement other than pressing keys on a keyboard or moving a mouse.

Don’t get lost in Cyberspace!

A lost Laptop. A hacked Website. Customers’ credit card data stolen. A denial of access service attack. A file of sensitive client information lost or stolen.

We are pleased to promote a new-look cyber and data insurance product from Hiscox, designed to provide cover for online and offline data risks.

Is my business at risk?

If you:

  • hold sensitive customer details such as names and addresses or banking information;
  • are reliant on computer systems to conduct your business;
  • have a website;
  • are subject to a payment card industry (PCI) merchant services

Then your business could be vulnerable to a data breach or loss of vital business services.

Protecting your business!

Data breach, cyber business interruption, privacy protection, hacker damage, cyber liability and cyber extortion are all covered. It also includes practical support in the event of a data breach – this could be in the form of technical forensic investigations, legal advice, notifying customers or regulators, and providing credit monitoring to affected customers.

Including cyber insurance as part of an overall security strategy regardless of the size, age, industry or number of customers your company possesses and investing in cyber liability insurance may be crucial if you store sensitive data online.
