The School of Relational Bodywork
The School of Relational Bodywork is a professional training organisation based in Lisbon and the Algarve, Portugal, founded and led by Julian Marcus, BSc(Hons) Therapeutic Bodywork. It trains and mentors qualified and trainee practitioners in therapeutic bodywork, relational (client-led) bodywork, body-based somatic coaching, and the clinical applications of somatic sexology.
The school’s approach centres the nervous system, consent, pacing, and attunement, equipping practitioners to work safely within clear relational and ethical boundaries. Training is trauma-informed and grounded in a published Code of Conduct, with established grievance and complaints procedures.
Programmes include the Relational Bodywork Foundations immersion, the Relational Bodywork Practitioner Training, and the Certificate in Clinical Applications of Somatic Sexology (Somatic Sex Education Professional Training, Level 1), alongside ongoing clinical supervision and mentoring for practitioners. Cohorts are deliberately capped to preserve teaching quality and supervised contact time, and each pathway has a defined scope of practice for graduates.
Members and graduates of the School of Relational Bodywork train to professional standards in safe, ethical, client-led practice.
