Senior Commercial Broker

Salary Circa £60,000 a year, full-time, Monday to Friday – Faringdon, Oxfordshire.

Summary

This is a senior level role within a progressive team. With the role comes:

  • An existing book of business
  • An opportunity to develop your own portfolio – of standard & non-standard Commercial Accounts, Risks and Schemes

You will have:

– Worked on Commercial Insurance risks in a position of responsibility
– A proven track record
– The ability to coach, train and generally provide information to the supporting team members
– Excellent technical insurance knowledge
– The self-confidence to effectively deal with clients’ boards and board members

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Looking after existing book of commercial clients, from SMEs to larger corporate clients
  • Maintaining meaningful relationships by providing excellent customer service
  • Further developing the current book, by:
    a. cross selling techniques and business development
    b. the development of existing insurer facilities in the UK and EU/EEA
    c. developing the existing scheme and target markets
  • Operating within regulatory guidelines
  • Supporting other team members as appropriate/necessary to ensure a first-class service to all of our clients

Required

  • 7+ years’ experience in General Commercial Insurance
  • 3+ years’ experience in generating and placing new business
  • Experience of Broking within the EU/EEA would be an advantage as would a knowledge of arranging insurance for companies trading internationally
  • Driving license

Head of Home Insurance

Salary £35,000 to £45,000 a year, full-time, permanent, Monday to Friday – Faringdon, Oxfordshire.

Purpose of the Role

To establish a new household account/facility in support of the Commercial team at BGi.uk with a focus on Mid and High Net Worth clients, with a view to grow and lead a new team. To provide expert advice, placement, and servicing of household insurance policies for clients in the UK, ensuring the delivery of tailored solutions, competitive terms, and excellent customer service. The role requires maintaining strong relationships with insurers and clients while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

Client Servicing & Advisory

  • Act as the primary contact for clients seeking household insurance solutions.
  • Assess client needs and provide suitable insurance recommendations.
  • Prepare and present quotations, renewals, mid-term adjustments, and endorsements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on policy coverage, exclusions, and claims processes.

Broker & Insurer Relations
• Negotiate competitive terms with insurers to secure the best outcomes for clients.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurers and underwriters to maximise placement opportunities.
• Keep up to date with household insurance products, policy wordings, and market developments.

Sales & Retention

  • Generate new business opportunities from your particular sphere of knowledge, through referrals, cross-selling, and marketing initiatives.
  • Help create and achieve agreed sales, retention, and profitability targets.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to ensure high client retention.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure all client files and communications are fully documented and compliant with FCA regulations.
  • Handle payments, policy documentation, and renewals in line with company procedures.
  • Adhere to Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles and other conduct standards.
  • Train junior staff in the principles and procedures of Personal Lines (non-motor) Insurance.

  • Strong knowledge of UK household insurance products and markets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with both clients and insurers.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in policy administration.

  • Ability to address small groups of potential clients

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Insurance Broker within personal lines / household insurance.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulatory requirements.
  • Cert CII qualification preferred (or willingness to study towards).
  • Proficiency in insurance broking systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Clean driving license
